Delores Avila

 

Delores Frances Avila of Delta died Jan. 17, 2012 at her home. She was 62.

Delores was born June 14, 1949 at Palmer, Alaska to Leon and Alice Bouens Holbrook. She attended schools in Alaska and in Colorado.

Delores had been a resident of Delta for the past 40 years. She was a member of the Catholic Church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Derek Avila and Natasha Lynch of Delta and Brandon and Lindsey Wiley of Montrose; two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephaney and Benjamin Herrera and Angie and Allen Snyder, all of Montrose; three brothers, Lance Holbrook and Garth Holbrook of Delta and Ronnie Holbrook of Rifle; three sisters, Melanie Baysinger of Rifle, Lanna Souell of Boise City, Okla., and Marlene Fister of Olathe; and five grandchildren.

Rev. Max Lee Kendrick

Rev. Max Lee Kendrick died Jan. 22, 2012 at his home in Eckert. He was 71.

Max Lee Kendrick was born to Donald Clyde and Atha Mae (Basey) Kendrick on July 8, 1940 in Oklahoma City, Okla. He attended schools both in Eckert and Cedaredge, graduating from Cedaredge High School with the Class of 1958.

On July 14, 1963, Max married the love of his life, Betty June Peterson, at the Cedaredge United Methodist Church. Max and Betty celebrated 48 years of love and marriage together.

Rev. Kendrick was a member of several clubs and organizations, and held several pots, including past president of the Cedaredge Rotary Club, Delta County Advisory board member of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, Chaplain and Ethics Committee member of the Delta County Memorial Hospital and former Eckert Presbyterian Church minister. He also served as moderator of the Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty J. Kendrick of Eckert; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Susan Kendrick of Beaverton, Ore., and Doug Kendrick and Sonya Templin-Zimmer of Dundee, Ore.; one daughter, Tricia Kendrick of Eckert; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles R. “Dick” and Kathy Kendrick of Waynesville, N.C., and James “Jim” and Jonni Kendrick of Delta; and by three grandchildren.

John Calhoun

John T. Calhoun died Jan. 24, 2012 at his home in Grand Junction. He was 57.

John Taylor Calhoun was born May 5, 1954 to George A. and Joy June (Taylor) Calhoun in Delta. He graduated from Delta High School and then attended Mesa College in Grand Junction.

He married Stacy Robinson.

Mr. Calhoun is survived by his mother, June Calhoun of Delta; a daughter, Alexis Calhoun of Grand Junction; a sister and brother-in-law, Alexis Ann and Chuck Merlino of Phoenix, Ariz.; and nephew and niece-in-law, Tony and Leslie Merlino of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Stacy; and his father, George A. Calhoun.

Geneva Frazier

Geneva L. Frazier of Delta died at her home surrounded by her loving family on Jan. 25, 2012. She was 80.

Geneva Lanette Cobb was born Dec. 6, 1931 to Walter and Ernestine Cobb in Donaldsonville, Ga. She married Delbert Frazier on July 30, 1949 in Columbus, Ga. They later moved to the Denver area and started a family. She was an active member of the Sabbath Keeping Christian Church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael L. and Carrie Frazier and Randall D. and Vicki Frazier all of Delta; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jo and Ray Cannon of Napa, Calif., and Carolyn and Bill Ballard of Austin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Nathan and Nancy Cobb of Smith Station, Ala., and Norman and Rita Cobb of Shelbyville, Ky.; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert; her brother, Walter Bascom (Jo) Cobb of Sparks, Nev.; and a grandson, Sean Michael Frazier.
