On August 3, 2009 concerned citizens of Delta County presented a Resolution to the Delta County Commissioners asking them to recognize and abide by their oath of office. The Oath of Office being the contract between the People and their public servants. There was language in the Resolution that the commissioners and the People couldn’t agree upon so the Delta County Commissioners, together with the county attorney, spearheaded the efforts of putting a statement together by which the commissioners recognize and thereby acknowledge that they will abide by their oaths to support both the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of Colorado, of which, the People of Delta County and the commissioners could agree upon. Acting on behalf of all the citizens, the commissioners then put a schedule together that rotates around the county of Delta to give all areas of the county a chance to bring concerns, educational points or knowledge of the constitution to the commissioners.
It is that time again for our round-table meeting and we would like to invite the citizenry of Delta County to be present and to bring your concerns to your commissioners. They have given us an evening forum to voice our concerns, educate on the constitution or to become familiar with our public servants in our own back yard. Please join us on July 8, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. at the Delta County Commissioners office; 501 Palmer Street, Suite 227, Delta, Colorado. This will be our fourth round-table and I have found them to be of the utmost importance for the People.

Dear Editor:
I'm sure that most anyone in Delta County that attempts to participate in our recycling program is as frustrated as myself. Yesterday, as usual, on the 4th Sat of the month, I made my deposit at the Cedaredge Middle School and as usual it was a total disaster. The trailer that is dropped off for collection isn't even close to being sufficient and hasn't been for as long as the program has been in existence.
I was late (12:30) getting my things there and what a disaster. It wasn't just kind of full, it was totally loaded and nothing was in the little laundry bins that are inside the trailer. By the time I arrived everything was co-mingled because of over loading. The overflow was all over the ground and scattered about. I have no idea how anyone could have gotten all that was there inside the trailer when it was picked up. I'm not sure that the mess that was there even made it to a recycling station.
Now, first of all having it here just once a month is totally ludicrous, as we all save our plastic, glass, milk jugs, aluminum cans, and tin. We are just a family of two so I can imagine how much a larger family can accumulate over four weeks.
I understand that we are in a financial crisis but that doesn't justify the unprofessional way the county is trying to develop this program. I have discussed this with several county residents and most everyone has already given up and are just taking their recyclables to the landfill. I had a discussion with the head of our program over a year ago and was told that is the best it can be done.
Well I'm not sure that if that is their best attempt to produce a quality program that it might be best just to save the county the embarrassment and just drop it all together. I'm quite sure that my opinion is shared with other county residents.
