“Obamacare” is becoming “Obamascare” - 5/19/10

We congratulate Andy Proctor for his recent attempt to explain and clarify the recently passed national health care bill. We understand how difficult it must be to explain something that has no explanation.

We, like so many small business people, have been trying for months now to get our arms around this thing and our only conclusion so far is that this is the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on the American taxpayer.

While Mr. Proctor was trying to explain the nuances contained in this 1,300 page self-contradictory garbage, we were learning that the new figures from the Congressional Budget Office place the cost of this so-called reform at $1 Trillion.

It is time the American people look these lawmakers and their leader in the eyes and say, “you, sir (or madam) are a liar.”

This law will not provide coverage for the 30 million uninsured people; it will simply add that number to theMedicaid program, which is nothing more than a taxpayer-funded welfare program that is being administered poorly at best.

This law will not reduce the deficit. How can the deficit be reduced by adding $1 Trillion to red figures already there? The costs of this lawwill not be paid by only those making $250,000 or more. Those costs will be borne by each and every worker and businessperson in the nation.

This law will not increase the quality of care. Robert Moffit, Ph.D, wrote in a recent column, “No class of American professionals will be more negatively impacted by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care Education ReconciliationAct than physicians. Third party payment arrangements already compromise the independence and integrity of the medical profession; Obamacare will reinforce the worst of these features.” We agree, and we have not thus far talked to even one medical professional that does not agree withMoffit. We admit we have not talked to any of those white-coat-clad doctors who posed with President Obama earlier this year.

In a recent survey conducted byAthenaHealth and Sermo, 66 percent of the physicians said they would consider dropping out of the government health program and 53 percent said they would consider opting out of taking payments from any insurance company. That makes this law scary.

So far, 33 states have taken legal action to fight this law, and more are expected to do so. If it were not for the fact that the Senate no longer actually represents the states, we could report that 66 percent of the states don’t want this and will be telling their senators to vote accordingly. Alas, that is not the case.

But we have hope.According to the latest polls conducted by Rasmussen, 56 percent of the likely voters surveyed are in favor of repealing this fraudulent law. That is a significant number. These are not peoplewho want the law changed. These are people who want the law repealed, and more and more of these people are letting their votes do the talking. We were lied to, and it is time we washed their mouths out with soap and cleaned up both houses of Congress in the process.
