Dear Editor:
Regarding the political and trade threats being made by Mexican President Calderon against the State of Arizona, if I remember my political science classes correctly, states cannot enter into trade or political agreements with foreign governments. This is reserved for the Federal Government. Thus, the threats being made by President Calderon are just empty threats and would have no bearing on the politics or laws of Arizona. Hang in there, Arizona! There are more U.S. citizens in support of your actions than you believe! I just wish other states, including Colorado, had the intestinal fortitude to follow your examples.
Also, apparently President Calderon condones the violation of the laws of another country by his citizens. Otherwise, why is he not doing more to assist with the stopping of the illegal border crossings?
During my career in local law enforcement, I took an Oath of Office to support the Constitutions of the U.S. and the State of Colorado and to enforce the laws of the city, county, state and U.S. If there is a Federal law against entering the country illegally, why do we need a state law saying the same thing? (Referring to the Oath of Office). Has this been changed since my retirement? In the 1970's & 1980's, there were numerous times that local law enforcement would detain an illegal immigrant for the Feds for deportation.

Dear Editor:
This is to inform the community about yet another bill proposed to eliminate more of our freedoms, and of course with a higher cost to us. The Dietary Supplement Safety Act (DSSA) of 2010, S 3302 will be coming up shortly for vote. It is designed to make all vitamins, minerals, and the like that we take as supplements to be under the prevail of the FDA. If passed, all supplements would be by prescription only, through one’s doctor. Huge costs would then be incurred by individuals, not to mention the additional time it would take. Please visit http://www.capwiz.com/lef/issues/alert/?=14665781 and vote with our senators and congressmen to stop this bill in its tracks.
